The Burgtheater (German: [ˈbʊʁk.teˌaːtɐ]; literally:"Castle Theater" but alternatively translated as "(Imperial) Court Theater"), originally known as K.K. Theater an der Burg, then until 1918 as the K.K. Hofburgtheater, is the national theater of Austria in Vienna.

Burgtheater (Teatro Nazionale) L'edificio del teatro fu costruito fra il 1874 e il 1888, su progetto di Gottfried Semper e Karl von Hasenauer. Sin dal 1776 il teatro, fondato dall'imperatore Giuseppe II e allora chiamato "Teatro di Corte Nazionale", è considerato uno dei teatri più importanti dei paesi di lingua tedesca.
