Byron Lee OJ, CD, born Byron Aloysius St. Elmo Lee (27 June 1935 – 4 November 2008), was a Jamaican musician, record producer, and entrepreneur, best known for his work as leader of Byron Lee and the Dragonaires.
Byron Lee and the Dragonaires (known as Byron Lee's Dragonaires after Lee's death and now The Dragonaires) are a Jamaican ska, calypso and soca band. The band played a crucial pioneering role in bringing Caribbean music to the world. Byron Lee died on 4 November 2008, after suffering from cancer for a sustained period.

Byron Lee, leader of one of Jamaica’s top bands – the Dragonaires – played an instrumental role in popularizing Jamaican music around the world in the years before reggae and ska were known outside of the Caribbean. He was born Byron Aloysius St Elmo Lee in Christiana, Jamaica, in 1935.
Byron Lee was a Jamaican bassist, band leader, and producer. Established the world-renowned studio Dynamic Sounds in 1969. See Dynamic Sounds Studios. Awarded the Order of Distinction by the Jamaican government in 1982 for services to music and the Order of Jamaica on 24th October 2008 in his hospital bed.
Byron Lee And The Dragonaires. Jamaican ska, calypso, mas and soca band, formed around 1950 by Byron Lee and his friend Carl Brady. One of the best known and most successful Jamaican groups of all time. The group were picked to perform in the 1962 James Bond film Dr. No which brought them to an international audience.
