Pittore tedesco (Wildenfels, Erzgebirge, 1788 - Monaco di Bav. 1868), famoso soprattutto come ritrattista. Nel 1804 divenne allievo dell'accademia di Dresda, nel 1808 si recò a Pietroburgo dove rimase quattro anni e si segnalò per un'intensissima attività di ritrattista.
