She was born in 1832, in Leicester, the daughter of Edwyn Burnaby of Baggrave Hall and his wife Anne Caroline Salisbury. She was baptised on 5 December 1832 at Hungarton, Leicestershire.

Biografia. Cecilia nacque a Londra [1], figlia maggiore del reverendo Charles Cavendish-Bentinck (nipote del primo ministro inglese William Henry Cavendish-Bentinck, III duca di Portland) e di sua moglie, Louisa Burnaby. They had three daughters: Cecilia Bowes-Lyon, Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne (1862–1938) Ann Violet Cavendish-Bentinck (1864 – 5 May 1932)
