Anna Cecilia Malmström (born 15 May 1968) is a Swedish politician who served as European Commissioner for Trade from 2014 to 2019. She previously served as European Commissioner for Home Affairs from 2010 to 2014 and Minister for European Union Affairs from 2006 to 2010.
Cecilia Malmström is a former EU commissioner and MP who joined PIIE as a nonresident senior fellow in 2021. She is also a visiting professor at the University of Gothenburg and host of PIIE's Trade Winds series on global trade issues.

I grew up partly in France and had the possibility already as a child to make friends from all corners of Europe. As a politician, migration issues have been part of my political agenda for many years.
Cecilia Malmström is a former member of the European Commission and the European Parliament. She is currently a nonresident fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics and a visiting professor at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg.
