Charles Davenport fu uno dei più importanti biologi del suo tempo. Nacque a Stamford nel Connecticut e frequentò all’Università di Harvard. Per un periodo fu professore all’Università di Chicago. Nel 1890, Davenport divenne il direttore del Biological Laboratory fondato Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences a Cold Spring Harbor.
Charles Benedict Davenport, American zoologist who contributed to the study of eugenics and who pioneered the use of statistical techniques in biological research. Davenport’s views on racial purism were later deemed scientifically invalid, and his collaboration with eugenicists in Nazi Germany raised ethical concerns.
