Charlotte Bonaparte, the daughter of Napoleon’s brother Joseph, had a romantic temperament and was known for her artistic talent. She died in sad circumstances. Though not considered beautiful, Napoleon's niece Charlotte had charm and artistic talent.
She was the younger daughter of Joseph Bonaparte, King of Spain and Naples and Julie Clary, born into an extremely wealthy merchant family from Marseilles. Charlotte-Napoléone was named for her paternal grandfather, Charles Bonaparte and world-famous uncle, Napoleon I.
Biography Painter; daughter of Joseph Bonaparte (q.v.) and Julie Clary, and niece of Napoléon I (q.v.). After Napoleon's exile she lived in exile in Francfort (1816-20) and Brussels (1820-21), where she attended David's studio; in 1821 she moved to the United States and settled in New Jersey (1821-24); in 1826 she married her first cousin Napoleon Louis Bonaparte in Florence.

Her father was the elder brother of Emperor Napoleon I. Her eldest sister Julie died in infancy, but another sister named Zénaïde survived to adulthood.
