Carlo Edoardo aveva solo una figlia illegittima, più grande solo di un anno di Luisa, Charlotte Stuart d'Albany, avuta dell'amante Clementina Walkinshaw che aveva abbandonato il principe a causa dei suoi problemi con l'alcol.
