T his comedy thriller, a no-holds barred satire on police corruption, was a major success for director Claude Zidi. The film won no less than three Césars in 1985 (for best film, best director and best editing) and it remains one of his best films, occupying a totally different league to his higher profile but comparatively trivial comic efforts such as Astérix et Obélix contre Cesar.

Director Claude Zidi was reluctant to cast Gensac because of her association with De Funès in the Gendarme films, in which she played the actor's long-suffering wife. Biography. Born on 18 July 1923 in Paris, Maria Pacôme was the daughter of Maurice Pacôme and Germaine Hivonait. [2] Her father was deported to Buchenwald concentration camp and her brother was shot for being a Communist. [3] When her father came back, Pacôme often found herself defending her mother against her father's violence.
