Colvin "Max" Mayers. The Sound were an English post-punk band, [1] formed in South London in 1979 and dissolved in 1988. They were fronted by Adrian Borland, and evolved from his previous band, the Outsiders . While never commercially successful, the Sound have long been championed by critics.

Colvin Mayers. Profile: Keyboard player in early version of the Cardiacs, before joining The Sound (2) in 1981. He used the name Max Mayers in Cardiacs and during his early years with the Sound. Started using his real name (Colvin) after the Sound's first 3 albums. Born 2 May 1961.
20 nov 2021 · Sadly, keyboard player Colvin ‘Max’ Mayers died in 1993 due to complications with AIDS. Borland continued to release music in a solo career over the course of the ’90s with limited success, all the while battling with his depression, hospitalised on several occasions for psychiatric care.
26 apr 2024 · Following the album "Jeopardy", Marshall left the band and was replaced by Colvin "Max" Mayers, previously of Cardiac Arrest, who would change their name to Cardiacs. During the early 1980s, the Sound toured throughout Europe, covering the UK and much of the continent.

From the Lions Mouth is the second studio album by English post-punk [1] band The Sound, released in November 1981 on record label Korova. Following the release of their previous album Jeopardy, keyboardist Belinda "Bi" Marshall left the group and was replaced by Colvin "Max" Mayers.
