Doll Congress was an American 1980s alternative rock band from Los Angeles. Its members were Michael Penn (guitar, vocals, production), Gabriele Morgan (vocals, clarinet), Patrick Warren (keyboards), Larry Rott (bass, vocals), and Rafael Gayol (who then went by the name Danny Gayol, drums).
Bringing in drummer Danny Gayol of California, Black and White was recorded at Prince's Paisley Park studios in Minneapolis on a sound stage, with the band recording material together live as it had during sessions for Home. "We thought, well, maybe we're doing something completely wrong," Llanas told Joe Brown of the Washington Post in 1991.
