It was the usual thing; promises of playing South East Counties football on a Saturday morning, but you’d sit by the phone, waiting for it to ring, but eventually I got fed up waiting for calls that never came so I wrote the club a letter telling them not to bother!

Bell progressed in the same group as Dean Ashton, Ben Rix, Michael Higdon and David Vaughan and went on to make 62 first-team appearances during his first stint with the club.
