David Gene Parker (born June 9, 1951), nicknamed "the Cobra", is an American former professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball as a right fielder from 1973 to 1991. A seven-time All-Star, Parker won two National League batting titles and was the 1978 National League Most Valuable Player.

4 dic 2019 · Dave Parker has another chance at the Hall of Fame. The Pirates and Reds great is one of the 10 candidates on the Modern Baseball Era ballot for 2020. Parker was on the Modern Baseball Era ballot -- which considers Hall of Fame candidates whose primary contributions to baseball were between 1970-87 -- once before, in 2017.
8 dic 2019 · Parker was not elected into the Hall of Fame through the Modern Baseball Era ballot, after the results were revealed on Sunday. The Cobra, one of the most feared sluggers of his era and a two-time World Series champion, was once again denied entry into the Hall of Fame.

In his first full season with the Pirates, he posted a .308 average, drove in 101, hitting 25 long balls, with 35 doubles & 10 triples. Dave also possessed the best throwing arm in the game (26 assists in 1977), maybe since Clemente.
