David Almond OBE FRSL (born 15 May 1951) is a British author who has written many novels for children and young adults from 1998, each one receiving critical acclaim. He is one of thirty children's writers, and one of three from the UK, to win the biennial, international Hans Christian Andersen Award .

David Almond è uno scrittore inglese specializzato nella narrativa per ragazzi, i suoi libri sono tradotti in più di quaranta lingue. È nato a Newcastle ed è cresciuto in una grande famiglia cattolica a Felling-on-Tyne.
David Almond è nato a Newcastle nel 1951 e vive nel Northumberland con la sua famiglia. Nel 2010 ha vinto l’Hans Christian Andersen Award, il premio Nobel della letteratura per ragazzi e nel 2022 il prestigioso Premio Nonino. Con Skellig ha vinto il Whitbread Children’s Award e la Carnegie Medal.
