David Updike (born 1957) is an American writer and academic. Updike is the son of author John Updike, who used him as a model for characters in several works of fiction, including Wife-wooing, Avec la Bebe-sitter, Son, and Separating. David Updike is the second child of John Updike and Mary Pennington (Updike) Weatherall.
David Updike. The son of esteemed American writer John Updike, David was born in 1959 in Massachusetts. He studied Art History at Harvard, and received his M.A.T. from Columbia University. He has written a collection of short stories, Out on the Marsh, (Godine) as well as six books for children.

About the Author. DAVID UPDIKE is the author of Out on the Marsh as well as an illustrated quartet for young readers: A Winter Journey, An Autumn Tale, A Spring Story, and The Sounds of Summer. His short stories have been published in The New Yorker, Epiphany, and Sargasso, among others.
