David Wain. Director: Wet Hot American Summer. David Wain was born and raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He met the other members of the comedy troupe The State while a film student at NYU, where he graduated from in 1991. As part of The State, he co-created and co-starred on their self-titled MTV sketch comedy show in the mid 90's.

He has directed six feature films, the most recent being the A Futile and Stupid Gesture (starring Will Forte, Domhnall Gleeson & Emmy Rossum). Previously he directed and co-wrote the movies Wet Hot American Summer, The Ten, Role Models, Wanderlust and They Came Together .
My whiny voice can be heard as “The Warden” on the Adult Swim animated series SUPERJAIL, and I created & starred in around 40 episodes of my web series WAINY DAYS, which is a (lightly) fictionalized account of my quest to meet women in New York.
