The performances themselves are all quite good, which is a huge plus - I just wish they had more to work with. In film, an often underutilized rule is to "show" something being done, not just talk about it. For me, "Devil's Hollow" is a "technically" well-made movie that plays things a little too safe. I've written a Southern Gothic crime drama called Devil's Hollow. It's about an ex-con who's stuck on his farm with an ankle monitor. When he learns his estranged teenage daughter is being threatened, he must make a choice. If he leaves the farm to save her, he violates his parole and the police will come after him.
