The Canadian doctor Lucille Teasdale runs a medical post in Uganda together with the Italian doctor Piero Corti and she becomes passionate about the country and the people. Lucille marries Corti and together they dedicate their lives to the wounded and sick, despite the chaos of civil war and tribal conflict.
Dr. Lucille contracted AIDS from surgical injuries but continued to work until her death in 1996. Commentary. I have found this film to be very useful in medical humanities classes. It is an inspiring story of two dedicated physicians and their humanitarian service in a very needy African mission.
