The plot of Shrek 2 is very interesting and I'm glad, that Dreamworks refused to make an idea of making Shrek to hold the presidential elections in Far Far Away(yep, initial plot of Shrek 2 was some kind of satire on the US Presidential Elections of 2004).
She didn't like to hear Shrek with Mike Myers' voice, so she chose Alexey Kolgan as Russian voice of Shrek. And, honestly, Alexey Kolgan's voice brilliantly matches Shrek. Also, one small fun fact-Shrek is 30 in first movie, and Alexey Kolgan turned 30 in November 2001, less in a month after Shrek was released in Russia(Shrek was released in Russia on October 31st, 2001).
