Prior to his service at Ohio State, he led Vanderbilt University (2001-2007), Brown University (1998-2000), the University of Colorado (1985-1990), and West Virginia University (1981-1985).

Gee is the parent of five children and mother of identical twins and lives in New Orleans. Gee attended Columbia College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in American History in 1997.

31 lug 2023 · The West Virginia University Board of Governors voted unanimously Monday (July 31) to extend President Gordon Gee’s contract one year through June 30, 2025. The decision came after Board members reviewed Gee’s performance — as mandated by state code — in areas such as student success, research, health and welfare, and the University's role in the state’s economic development.
