Earl Bostic. Eugene Earl Bostic (April 25, 1913 – October 28, 1965) [1] was an American alto saxophonist. Bostic's recording career was diverse, his musical output encompassing jazz, swing, jump blues and the post-war American rhythm and blues style, which he pioneered.

Earl Bostic (Tulsa,OK April 25, 1913-–Rochester, NY October 28, 1965) was an American jazz and rhythm and blues alto saxophonist, and a pioneer of the post-war American Rhythm and Blues style. Bostic recorded over 400 sides for King Records and sold millions of records.
Earl Bostic was a saxophone player who is often maligned, misjudged and/or misrepresented. He has been referred to as a pop instrumentalist, a screaming R&B saxophonist and a jazz musician. He was all of those, plus an outstanding technical player and improviser.
