About. Sir Earle Page. The Page Research Centre is named for Sir Earle Christmas Grafton Page, who served briefly as the 11th Prime Minister of Australia in April 1939, and who is the third longest serving federal parliamentarian in Australian history with 41 years, 361 days.
Earle Page enlisted as a surgeon with the Army Medical Corps in 1916 and spent 15 months working in military hospitals in Egypt, England and France. He returned to Australia via Canada and the USA to inspect hydro-electricity projects. In 1918 he was elected Mayor of South Grafton and set up the Nymboida hydro-electric scheme.

Sir Earle Christmas Grafton Page (1880-1961), politician and surgeon, was born on 8 August 1880 at Grafton, New South Wales, fifth of eleven children of London-born Charles Page, blacksmith and coachbuilder, and his Tasmanian wife Mary Johanna Hadden, née Cox.
