  1. The Sydney Technical College, now known as the TAFE New South Wales Sydney Institute, is a technical school established in 1878, that superseded the Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts. The college is one of Australia's oldest technical education institutions.

  4. Located in Darlinghurst, in Sydney's inner city, the site was constructed in the 1820s using convict labour. It housed prisoners from 1841 to 1914. In 1921, the site was adapted for use as the East Sydney Technical College, later developing into an arts school.
