Biografia. Era il figlio del Primo ministro Robert Walpole, e della sua prima moglie, Catherine Shorter. Fu educato a Eton (1718) e al King's College, Cambridge (1725) e studiò legge al Lincoln's Inn (1723). Ha intrapreso un Grand Tour in Italia nel 1730 .
Sir Edward Walpole KB PC (Ire) (1706 – 12 January 1784) was a British politician, and a younger son of Sir Robert Walpole, Prime Minister from 1721 to 1742.

Hon. Edward Walpole (1706-1784) Born: 1706. Clerk of the Pells. Died: 12th January 1784 at Isleworth, Middlesex. Edward was the second son of the first Prime Minster of Great Britain, Sir Robert Walpole, Earl of Orford, and his first wife, Catherine daughter of John Shorter of Bybrook in Kent.
Gustavus Hamilton was Irish, born in 1710, and succeeded his grandfather in 1723 as second Viscount Boyne. This elegant young gentleman made his Grand Tour of the continent with Edward Walpole (1706–1784), the second son of the powerful Whig Prime Minister Sir Robert Walpole (1676–1745).
