Elgin Academy is the biggest school in Moray, with a history going back to the Middle Ages. The first school was built on the adjacent corners of Academy Street and Francis Place, now the site of the local youth cafe. The second academy was built in 1801, on the site that is now Moray College.

8 mar 2024 · During the six years of his leadership, Elgin Academy has achieved record breaking exam results, experienced the changes from the pandemic and become the first school in Moray to receive a gold reading schools award, among many other achievements from pupils and staff. Mr Scott even brushed shoulders with Royals during his time at the school.

Elgin High School opened in August 1978. It is one of two secondary schools in Elgin, the other being Elgin Academy. Elgin High caters for pupils in S1-6 from across a range of backgrounds and abilities. The House System consists of Arran, Harris, Iona, Jura, and Skye.
