Elias Avery Lowe (Kalvarija, 15 ottobre 1879 – 8 agosto 1969) è stato un paleografo russo naturalizzato statunitense. Prima ricercatore e poi professore associato all'Università di Oxford dal 1913 al 1936 , è poi stato professore ordinario dell' Institute for Advanced Study di Princeton a partire dal 1936.

Paleografo, nato in Lituania il 15 ottobre 1879, studiò a New York e a Monaco; naturalizzatosi inglese dopo la prima guerra mondiale, mutò il cognome da Loew in Lowe. Ha insegnato paleografia nell'univ. di Oxford dal 1914 al 1948; ora è professore presso l'Institut for advanced study di Princeton N. J. (S.U.A.).

The complete title of the work is Codices Latini Antiquiores: A Paleographical Guide to Latin Manuscripts Prior to the Ninth Century. Elias Avery Lowe founded the project in 1929 and directed it himself until his death in 1969.
