Francis Wemyss-Charteris, IX conte di Wemyss e V conte di March (14 agosto 1796 – 1º gennaio 1883), è stato un nobile scozzese. Biografia. Era il figlio di Francis Charteris, VIII conte di Wemyss, e di sua moglie, Margaret Campbell. Nel 1853 successe al padre come conte di Wemyss e come Lord luogotenente del Peeblesshire.
Alla morte del padre, nel 1756, non gli fu permesso di succedergli, ma comunque assunse il titolo di Conte di Wemyss. Lord Elcho morì senza figli e gli succedette il suo fratello minore Francis, il settimo conte, che ha assunto il cognome Charteris in luogo di Wemyss. Il suo successore fu suo nipote Francis, l'ottavo conte.
Biografia. Era il figlio di Francis Charteris, IX conte di Wemyss, e di sua moglie, Lady Louisa Bingham. Carriera. Fu un deputato per East Gloucestershire (1841-1846) e per Haddingtonshire (1857-1883). Fu comandante del London Scottish regiment per 17 anni, dalla sua formazione nel 1859 .

Francis Wemyss Charteris (21 October 1723 – 24 August 1808) was a Scottish landowner who claimed to be 7th Earl of Wemyss. Life. Charteris was the second son of James Wemyss, 5th Earl of Wemyss and his wife Janet, daughter of the very wealthy Colonel Francis Charteris.
