Biografia. Franka nasce a Münster, nella Renania Settentrionale-Vestfalia, figlia di Hildegard, un'assistente medica, e Dieter Potente, un insegnante di remote origini italiane (il bisnonno paterno era un immigrato siciliano, giunto in Germania verso la fine del XIX secolo).
Franka Potente (German: [fʁaŋka po.ˈtɛn.tə] ⓘ; born 22 July 1974) is a German actress and singer.She first appeared in the comedy film After Five in the Forest Primeval (1995), for which she won a Bavarian Film Award for Best Young Actress.

Franka Potente was born on 22 July 1974 in the German city of Münster, to Hildegard, a medical assistant, and Dieter Potente, a teacher, and raised in the nearby town of Dülmen. After her graduation in 1994, she went to the Otto-Falckenberg-Schule, a drama school in Munich, but soon broke off to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York.
