Franz, Duke of Bavaria, the current head of the Royal House of Wittelsbach, the former ruling family of the Kingdom of Bavaria, was born on July 14, 1933 in Munich, Germany. His parents were Albrecht, Duke of Bavaria and Countess Maria Drascovich whose father belonged to the old Croatian nobility of the Austro-Hungarian empire, and whose mother was a Princess of Montenegro.
