5 mar 2019 · Fred Abong has announced his new solo release – the ‘Pulsing’ EP. This six-track offering will release on March 8, the same day that his UK tour with Kristin Hersh kicks off. As a solo artist Abong will be supporting Hersh on this tour.
Fred Abong is a singer/songwriter and one time bass player for influential art-punk band Throwing Muses and indie-pop band Belly. Prior to that, Fred was active as a drummer and bass player in numerous bands centered on the Newport, RI hardcore punk scene. In addition to playing music, Fred earned his Ph.D. in Humanities in 2016.

4 ago 2023 · As before, Fred’s voice never really cares for weight of any kind; his thin, and haunting notes are merely an accompaniment to the music here, but he’s more than aware that this unfussy, minimalist approach really works, and those who’ve followed Abong’s solo outings since 2018’s ‘Homeless’ will certainly appreciate this number.

4 set 2023 · Fred Abong got his musical start in the 1980’s on the Rhode Island hardcore punk scene. In the early 1990s, he played bass for Throwing Muses and then Belly. Putting music on hold for academic pursuits, he then earned a PhD in Humanities and taught at various universities for eight years before returning to music.
