Yared begon zijn muziekcarrière als componist, arrangeur en muziekproducent voor artiesten als Françoise Hardy , Charles Aznavour , Gilbert Bécaud en Mireille Mathieu .

En 1993 , il reçoit le César de la meilleure musique de film pour L'Amant , et en 1997 , il obtient l' Oscar de la meilleure musique de film pour Le Patient anglais .
