After several months of bad health, he passed away on Tuesday 22 March 2005 at his home at the ripe age of 84 years of age. Gemini Ganesh was once a phenomenon and known as Kathal Mannan (King of Love), but faded into oblivion.

After a few cordial meetings, he fell head-over-heels in love with her; it is said they got married secretly in Tirupati. In 1954, the couple was blessed with a daughter, Bhanurekha, now known as Rekha.
