Biographies. George Kistiakowsky (1900 - 1982) George Bogdan Kistiakowsky was born in Kiev, Ukraine, on November 18, 1900. One of the few scientists at Los Alamos who had experienced combat, he attended private schools in Kiev and Moscow until the Russian Revolution broke out in 1917.
