In a 2002 BBC documentary, Queen and Country, produced for Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee, Lady Kennard spoke authoritatively on the queen’s relationship with the late Diana, Princess of Wales.

Lady Kennard was born Georgina Wernher in Edinburgh, Scotland on October 17, 1919, the second of three children of Sir Harold Wernher, Bt, and Countess Anastasia Torby, eldest daughter of Grand Duke Michael of Russia and his morganatic wife, Sophie Torby.
