There is also an excellent film adaptation of Kafka's The Trial. (actually multiple, but I've only seen the one with Kyle MacLachlan. The other one has Anthony Perkins). I'd say the MacLachlan version does a really good job of getting the book right, inasmuch as it could be gotten right in a film.
