26 mar 2021 · Gordonstoun was founded by Dr. Kurt Hahn in 1934 as a learning institution where young people could truly thrive. In 2019, HM Inspectors would put the school to a rigorous test, concluding that “the extensive range of opportunities for personal achievements in the senior school, as part of the Gordonstoun broader curriculum is outstanding.”.
Day. £17,705. £12,865. Overnight boarding for day pupils, subject to availability, costs £68.00 per night in addition to the day fee. Unlike many other Schools the fees cover virtually everything in Gordonstoun’s very broad curriculum including expeditions and sail training and most weekend activities for boarders.
Gordonstoun’s founder, Kurt Hahn, was keen to extend his educational ethos to the local community and not just those in the School. He therefore set up the Moray Badge (the precursor to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award) which started at Gordonstoun and Elgin Academy in 1936 and then spread to other schools in Moray.
