Guarding Eddy plot. Eddy is a mentally retarded boy with a weakness for sports. Mike is a talented basketball player with a bright future. The two run into each other at a homeless shelter, where Mike is doing community service. Eddy ended up there after being kicked out of the house by his father.
This is the true story of Eddy Patterson, a likeable 18 year-old autistic sports jabbering kid, that runs away to Los Angeles to fulfill his lifelong dream of trying out for the L.A. Clippers professional basketball team. Hungry and alone in a strange and unforgiving city, Eddy ends up in a homeless shelter.
