Hans Ernst Karl, Graf von Zieten (5 March 1770 – 3 May 1848) was an officer in the Prussian Army during the Napoleonic Wars. Biography. Zieten was born in Dechtow in the Margraviate of Brandenburg; he was not related to the Frederician general Hans Joachim von Zieten. During the Waterloo Campaign of 1815
Hans Ernst von Zieten rather served as a General of Hussars and as the commander of the Upper Silesian Cavalry Brigade under Field Marshal von Blücher. Graf von Zieten's chief fame rests with his actions in the 1815 campaign.

Zieten was a famous Prussian military leader who fought in the Revolutionary Wars, the Wars of Liberation and the occupation of France. He commanded the 1st Corps in 1815 and replaced Blücher as Prussian Commander-in-Chief in 1815.
