Henry "Harry" Philmore Langdon (June 15, 1884 – December 22, 1944) was an American comedian who appeared in vaudeville, silent films (where he had his greatest fame), and talkies. [1] Life and career. Langdon on “ The Serious Side of Comedy Making ”: ”I am convinced that comedy is much harder to achieve than drama.”

American motion picture actor and director whom many rank among the top tier of silent film comedians. As a young boy, Langdon ran away from his home in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to join a traveling medicine show.
