14 giu 2017 · Johann Heinrich Scheidemann was one of the leading organ composers of the early to mid seventeenth century; as a founder of the north German organ school, he was an important predecessor of Dietrich Buxtehude and J.S. Bach. From 1611 to 1614, Scheidemann studied in Amsterdam with Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck.

He studied with Sweelinck in Amsterdam (1611–14), and in 1629 succeeded his father as organist at the Katharinenkirche in Hamburg, holding that post until his death.

About Heinrich Scheidemann Scheidemann was instrumental in establishing the north German organ school. He was a student of Sweelinck in Amsterdam from 1611-1614 later succeeding his father as organist of the Catharinenkirche in Hamburg (c.1625-1629).
