Helle Thorning-Schmidt (pronuncia danese ˈhɛlə ˈtoɐ̯neŋ ˈsmed; Rødovre, 14 dicembre 1966) è una politica danese, presidente dei Socialdemocratici e, dal 3 ottobre 2011 al 24 giugno 2015, 51º ministro di Stato della Danimarca, divenendo così la prima donna a ricoprire tale incarico nel suo Paese.

Helle Thorning-Schmidt (født 14. december 1966 i Rødovre Centrum) er en dansk socialdemokratisk politiker, der fra 2011 til 2015 var Danmarks statsminister, og som efterfølgende fra 2015 til 2016 var 1. næstformand i Folketingets Præsidium.

Helle Thorning-Schmidt, born December 14th 1966 in Rødovre, daughter of retired associate professor Holger Thorning-Schmidt MSc (economics) and retired Head of Department Grete Thorning-Schmidt. Married to Stephen Kinnock.
Durante gli studi universitari è entrata a far parte del partito socialdemocratico danese e a fine anni Novanta è stata eletta membro del Parlamento Europeo (1999-2005). Nel 2006 ha sostituito M. Lykketoft alla guida del partito, mantenendo l’incarico anche dopo la sconfitta contro A. F. Rasmussen alle elezioni parlamentari del 2007.
