Helmuth Karl Bernhard Graf von Moltke (German: [ˈhɛlmuːt fɔn ˈmɔltkə]; 26 October 1800 – 24 April 1891) was a Prussian field marshal. The chief of staff of the Prussian Army for thirty years, he is regarded as the creator of a new, more modern method of directing armies in the field and one of the finest military minds of his generation.

Helmuth Karl Bernhard von Moltke, ab 1870 Graf von Moltke, genannt Moltke der Ältere, volkstümlich Der große Schweiger (* 26. Oktober 1800 in Parchim; † 24. April 1891 in Berlin ), war ein preußischer Generalfeldmarschall. Als Chef des Generalstabs hatte er wesentlichen Anteil am Erfolg Preußens in den Deutschen Einigungskriegen.

BERLINO. Moltke, Helmuth Karl Bernhard conte von Generale prussiano (Parchim, Meclemburgo-Schwerin, 1800-Berlino 1891). Di famiglia di antica nobiltà, tenente dell’esercito danese (1819), passò poi nell’esercito prussiano (1822). Frequentò l’Accademia di guerra a Berlino e compì profondi studi storici e politici.
