On June 28, 1863 Harrison informed Longstreet and Lee about the advancement of Union positions from Frederick, Maryland, who were in pursuit of the Confederate forces. As a result of his information, Lee concentrated his forces near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and engaged the Union Army beginning on July 1, 1863 and ending on July 3, which resulted in a major victory for the North.
Biography. Henry Thomas Harrison was a spy for Confederate Lieutenant General James Longstreet during the American Civil War. He is best known for the information he gave Longstreet and General Robert E Lee in the Gettysburg Campaign, which resulted in Lee converging on Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, thus causing the Battle of Gettysburg. He was identified as James Harrison (1834-1913), the actor, for a time (see the entry in the Historical Times Illustrated Encyclopedia of the Civil War, for example, but he is more probably Henry Thomas HARRISON (ca. 1832-post 1900). Known simply as "Harrison," he was an effective southern spy.

3 dic 2011 · Jun 12, 2013. #1. Born Henry Thomas Harrison in Nashville in 1832, the Confederate soldier joined the 12th Mississippi Infantry in May 1861. He was discharged the same year though and became a spy for Confederate Secretary of War James Seddon. After meeting General James Longstreet in April 1863, he then became a spy for him.
