Sat, Apr 1, 1978. Judge Elisabeth Massot's last investigation concerns Paul Barne, a passionate bird-watcher, whose peaceful life on his estate in the South of France has been troubled by the dealings of various hostile individuals. Worse, a forest fire nearly destroys his house.
This time, examining magistrate Elisabeth Massot must determine whether high school student Jean-Michel, the main suspect, has actually murdered his parents or not. The case gets all the more complicated as reasons of personal nature prevent the judge from working as serenely as she should.
After the accidental death of her husband, the fifty-something Élisabeth Massot, ex-lawyer, returns to service, but as an examining magistrate. In addition to the affairs entrusted to her, she has to grapple with the problems of daily life and in particular her relationship with her son Guillaume.
