Amanda Carol Barnett (born September 28, 1975) is an American country music singer. Early life and music career. Barnett has been singing since she was a child, performing at churches, local venues, as well as at Dollywood. In her musical career, she has released eight albums and charted three singles on the Billboard country charts.
But it's on stone cold country numbers like "Don't Take Yesterday" (with Mandy Barnett on backing vocals) and "Never Started Living" where Dayton really shines, along with the fiddle of Johnny Gimble and the steel guitar work of Brian Thomas. Ditto the peppy western swing of "Panhandle Jane," featuring backing vocals from the Dixie Chicks.
"We also got Mandy Barnett to come in and sing the Conway/Loretta-type thing on 'Don't Take Yesterday,'" says Dayton, referring to the soaring honky tonk number that feels like the album's centerpiece. The new album also features some excellent backing vocals from the Dixie Chicks on the western swinging "Panhandle Jane."
