Hope in a Darkened Heart is a 1986 album by English singer Virginia Astley, produced, primarily, by Japanese musician and composer Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Biografia. Dopo aver studiato pianoforte sin da giovanissimo, ebbe le sue prime esperienze musicali al liceo, dove suonò in complessi di musica jazz. Frequentò successivamente l' Università delle arti di Tokyo, dove si diplomò in composizione, per poi perfezionarsi in musica elettronica e musica etnica. [6] [7]
16 apr 2023 · Sakamoto took on the role of producer for Virginia’s 1986 album Hope In A Darkened Heart, which was recorded at Wool Hall, Somerset and AIR Studios, London. He also co-wrote the track ‘Some Small Hope’, which saw Virginia duetting with David Sylvian. Sakamoto performed and recorded the base instrumentals for all six of the main tracks on the album.
31 mag 2021 · Ryuichi Sakamoto produced and arranged Hope in a Darkened Heart, and his own melancholy sheen comes through from the opener. “Some Small Hope,” a duet with David Sylvian, launches the album with one of its best melodies.
Early life. Ryuichi Sakamoto was born on January 17, 1952, in Tokyo. His father, Kazuki Sakamoto, was a well-known literary editor, and his mother, Keiko (Shimomura) Sakamoto, designed women's hats. He began taking piano lessons at age 6, and started to compose at age 10.
