Horace Smith-Dorrien. General Sir Horace Lockwood Smith-Dorrien, GCB, GCMG, DSO, ADC (26 May 1858 – 12 August 1930) was a British Army General. One of the few British survivors of the Battle of Isandlwana as a young officer, he also distinguished himself in the Second Boer War .

24 set 2014 · Sir Horace Smith-Dorrien. General Sir Horace Lockwood Smith-Dorrien was made commander of II Corps following the sudden death of Lieutenant-General Sir James Grierson in August 1914. Early in the campaign, I Corps and II Corps were separated after coming under heavy pressure from the Germans.
