I Am a Bird Now is the second album by American band Antony and the Johnsons, released on February 1, 2005, by Secretly Canadian. After it won the 2005 Mercury Prize, the album shot up the UK albums chart from #135 to #16 in one week, the biggest jump in the history of the prize. [2]

Ci sono degli ospiti incredibili, per essere un disco di un quasi esordiente. Dai miti di Antony da ragazzo (Boy George) a chi l'ha aiutato (Lou Reed) ad i suoi amici (Devendra Banhart) eppure Antony li sbaraglia tutti (eccetto forse Rufus Wainwright, nella breve "What Can I Do", ma finisce in parità).
Quando era un ragazzino, voleva diventare come "Sister" George: i desideri lottano con la realtà, la mutano e si trasformano con essa. Antony è diventato una misurata stella del mondo arty, e non più soltanto di quello newyorchese in cui si è fatto le ossa con spettacoli punky fra teatro d'avanguardia e cabaret.
