Professor Ian Tracey has been involved in church music all his life, having started as a chorister in the largest anglican cathedral in the world, at Liverpool. He learned the basis of his craft there under Dr Noel Rawsthorne and in 1982 succeeded him as only the third organist since the mighty instrument was built in the 1920s.
PROFESSOR IAN TRACEY has had a life-long association with Liverpool Cathedral and its music and, with his two illustrious predecessors, continues the tradition of an almost apostolic succession. He studied organ with Lewis Rust and then with his immediate precursor Dr. Noel Rawsthorne.
