Sechenov’s history begins in 1758 as the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial Moscow University. The university takes its name from 19th-century scientist Ivan Sechenov, a physiologist who laid the foundations for the study of reflexes, animal and human behavior, as well as neuroscience.
The academic culture of the Imperial Moscow Uni-versity in the early 40s of the 19th century, operating on the basis of the University Charter of July 26, 1835, was the result of the joint activities of the rector and professors of the university.
